LAYPO AUDITIONS 2026

AUDITIONS

Q: Do you provide a list of suggested audition repertoire?
A: Yes. You can find it on our website. Under the ‘LAYP’ menu, click the ‘Repertoire (Audition)’ submenu.

Q: What is the normal length of an audition video?
A: It depends on your repertoire. For example, a Level 5–6 violinist performing a fast Vivaldi concerto movement typically plays 4–5 minutes. Scales and arpeggios take 30 seconds to 1 minute. Total length is often around 5–7 minutes.

Q: Do all pieces need to be recorded in one sitting?
A: No. Recording everything in one continuous take is not required.

For the LAYP audition, applicants normally submit two separate videos:

  • Video 1: Scales, Arpeggio, and Chromatic Scale
  • Video 2: Solo Piece

These should be recorded as separate videos.

If you are submitting more than one solo piece, each piece may also be recorded separately. In that case, please submit them as additional video files in the video submission form.
