  • SOLO:
  • LONG TONES 
      • Long tones on a scale or scales.
      • 16 beats > 8 beats crescend / 8 (or) MORE beats decresending to nothingness. 
      • Metronome = 60 bpm (opt 70 bpm)
      • Start from a whisper (minimal air) – then hold for 4 beats, then crescend –  and get to 30db (decibels) then decrescendo until it fades out  
  • ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS > PDF
      • WARM UP > play whole notes on the first 5 notes.  Repeat 4 times. Set the metronome to 66bpm
      • Page 4 & 5 – Learning notes!
          • Tempo = 66+
          • Play all the exercises — or just the quarter note exercises.  Try to play the exercises “non-stop”
          • Don’t forget the repeats > helps with muscle memory.
          • If your mouth gets tired and you lose your grip. Take a break and jump back in.

      • Play the following major scales the full range of your instrument: Ab, G and D Major and a chromatic scale one octave.
      • Prepare a short classical etude demonstrating your technical ability on your instrument.
