LONG TONES ON SCALES

  • For flute & clarinet
  • Using TE analyzer. 
  • 16 beats > 8 beats crescend / 8 beats decresend. Metronome = (60-70)
  • Goal start at ppp go to fff (30 db or more). Start with an air start. 
  • 10/9 – A Major ascending & Bb Major descending
  • Not perfect, but a “work in progress”

CLARINET GUIDELINES

  • Sitting up nice and straight
  • No arm resting on thighs. 
  • Mouthpiece 1/2 down the length of the pad. Teeth on top of the pad. Firm grip
  • Roll your bottom lip under 
  • Name & finger notes before playing. Think of note names while playing.
  • Look for patterns & repetitive patterns in music. You’ll learn songs faster!
  • Play phrases over and over (20 times?) to gain muscle memory!!
